Fascinating… The speaker in the SSB post mixes up the Revolutionary War with the War of 1812, gets the name of Ft. McHenry wrong, and insists that Key wrote a song, when he wrote a poem which was later set to the tune of “To Anacreon In Heaven”, an old Pub song… I’m certain the sentiments expressed were genuinely felt. I love my country and am grateful to our veterans. I’ve been to Ft McHenry and seen the original “Star Spangled Banner” – our speaker needs to review some history lessons and try re-writing his presentation.
No wonder the rest of the world thinks we’re all crazy – we don’t even know our own history!
